Eddie Pitt shortly before retirement at age 65. Copied from a photograph lent by Eddie Pitt. Eddie worked for the Gas Board. Although he offically retired at 65, he then went on to be the steward of the "Salisbury Conservative Club" in Portwood. This was at the time when the clearance of housing stock in Portwood was taking place, circa early 70's. A new Club was being built in Brinnington with the same name and it is still there today.
