Midland Railway Station - Hazel Grove

Site of Hazel Grove's "second station" - the Midland - has long since gone as this photo shows in 1973. The station platform with its canopy was located beyond the signalbox seen to the left of the approaching train. The train is the regular ICI hopper train returning from Northwich to Tunstead Quarry near Buxton. On the right is the "Racecourse" housing estate.
