Stockport Centre from the air
Looking west from Portwood with the steaming cooling tower of the electric generator at the left. At top the full length of the railway viaduct carries the London - Manchester line. At bottom right the Derby - Manchester Central railway line enters the tunnel under Lancashire Hill. Tiviot Dale Station was by this tunnel entrance but demolished before this photo. In the centre is Merseyway Shopping Centre built over the River Mersey. Just above the cooling tower is the covered market.
